There is something very satisfying about using just a needle and wool to create anything from pictures to sculptures, ornaments and figurines and so much more.
Felting entails the process of opening the scales that exist on individual wool fibres and then agitating those scales so that they open up and latch on to each other. The pointy working tip of your needle, along with the action of your poking hand, is all it takes to start this process of sculpting!
I offer needle felting classes in my village studio approximately every 2 months here in St. Jacobs. Each class typically runs on a Saturday, 1 - 5 pm. Besides offering all supplies necessary and the instruction (of course), you will enjoy wonderful loose tea and fresh baked scones.
I pick the theme for my needle felting classes according to the time of year. My Christmas class, for example, will offer you a choice of 1 or 2 projects to work on - gingerbread ornaments (2) or gnome ornaments (2). My February needle felting class will be all foxy! Yes, you will make your own adorable fox. Stay tuned for a photo of this project.
